Frequently Asked Questions

Are Potatoes safe for pets to consume?

Cooked potatoes are perfectly safe for dogs to consume. Raw potatoes, however, can cause sickness, especially in the skin. We make sure to peel and cook our homegrown potatoes thoroughly and to perfection! Skinning and cooking the potatoes properly takes away any unnecessary toxins, making them a perfectly safe and beneficial source of energy for your pet.

Are potatoes bad for a dog’s blood sugar?

Potatoes can cause a rapid increase in blood sugar if it is not prepared correctly. However, our homegrown potatoes contain a natural source of carbohydrates, are properly cleaned, and are non-processed, which helps your dog run, jump, and play all day long.

Do potatoes contain oxalates?

We avoid the risks associated with oxalates by always peeling our potatoes. This ensures your pet always gets the nutritional benefits of the potato-rich in vitamin C, vitamin B6, iron, and magnesium-without any of the potential downsides.

Is the fat content in beef a concern?

We use lean, high-quality beef cubes from our local butcher shop, A&A Meats. With the beef we use, it ensures your pet gets all the high-quality, essential protein needed for strong muscles and bodily function, while avoiding excessive fat that can be found in lower-quality meat. This meat is also of the same quality for human consumption!

Is a beef-based diet nutritionally complete?

We’ve formulated our recipe to ensure a complete, balanced diet. With the high-quality beef we obtain from our local butcher shop, our beef is complete with protein, iron, and B-vitamins. Our other ingredients complement the beef to provide all the nutrients your pet needs. We worked hard to design our food to work as a complete diet, providing a wide range of nutrients with every bite!

Can lentils cause digestive issues for my pet?

Lentils in massive amounts can interfere with nutrient absorption and can cause gas and bloating if not cooked properly. We take careful steps to prepare our red lentils by soaking and cooking them thoroughly. This process breaks down lentils, making them incredibly easy for your pet to digest. Our lentils are a fantastic source of plant-based protein and fibre, promoting a healthy digestive system.

Are lentils a source of protein?

While lentils offer protein, they certainly should not be the sole protein source of your pet's diet. That is why we include real beef in our food!

Can turmeric cause digestive problems?

Turmeric is known for its anti-inflammatory characteristics, which is one of the main reasons why we add it. It’s well known, all-natural, and can be found in many types of human food. This addition to the recipe helps support your pet’s joint health. We include a small, safe amount (1 teaspoon per 24 pounds) in our food to provide these amazing benefits without any risk of stomach upset.

Can turmeric interfere with my pet’s medication?

We’ve added turmeric to provide a natural boost of antioxidants. While it’s generally safe (as with any ingredient), if your pet has any pre-existing medical conditions, or is on medication, it’s always best to consult with your veterinarian to ensure it’s a perfect fit for their specific needs.
